THE SUMMIT

A Two-Day CLE for Plaintiff's Nursing Home Litigators

The Summit

Nursing Home Litigation at Altitude

Why This Program Exists

Most seminars teach half the case. This one refuses to.

Financial forensics without persuasion is a spreadsheet. Persuasion without the money trail is a speech. The Summit pairs both disciplines in every session, so each finding you dig out of the records leaves the room as something a jury will carry into deliberations.

Layer One

The Forensics

Ernie Tosh opens each segment with the technical layer: staffing data, cost reports, and the corporate structures that hide where the money went — the analysis that finds the truth of an understaffed building.

Layer Two

The Persuasion

Ken Connor follows immediately with the courtroom layer: converting each finding into themes, testimony, and argument — the trial craft that makes twelve strangers care enough to act.

Faculty

Two careers. One case file.

Kenneth L. Connor

Kenneth L. Connor

Connor & Connor, LLC

Trying cases since 1972 and licensed in fourteen states, Ken is one of the nation's most accomplished nursing home trial lawyers — a master of voir dire, cross-examination, and the jury story that turns institutional neglect into verdicts.

Trial lawyer since 1972 · Aggregate client verdicts exceeding $200 million

Ernest “Ernie” Tosh

Ernest "Ernie" Tosh

Tosh Law Firm · Grapevine, Texas

The attorney credited with bringing Medicare and Medicaid cost-report analysis into nursing home litigation. Ernie's work tracing staffing data and facility financial structures has reshaped how plaintiff's lawyers prove what a building really spent — and what it chose not to.

150+ jury trials · Congressional testimony on private equity in healthcare

The Program

One case makes the full ascent — intake to verdict.

Across two days, a single hypothetical case climbs the whole route. Every leg is taught twice: Tosh's forensics first, Connor's courtroom translation immediately after.

Leg 01 · Base

The case file opens

Intake, records, and the first read — what a strong case looks like on day one.

Leg 02

Staffing & the data

What the facility's own staffing numbers admit — and how to make them testify.

Leg 03

The corporate structure

Following the money uphill through related entities to the parties who profited.

Leg 04

Damages & the money trail

Turning cost reports and financial proof into the value of a human life.

Leg 05

The jury story

Themes, voir dire, and openings — making the room care before the first witness.

Leg 06 · Summit

Verdict

Proof at trial, cross-examination, and the closing that brings the case home.

Both faculty present both days. The Summit's paired format means you never learn a financial finding without learning, in the same hour, how it wins in front of a jury. Registration includes the hardbound Summit Field Manual — the program's full written materials.

ROUTE SHOWN IS THE PROGRAM ARC. THE DETAILED SESSION SCHEDULE AND CLE HOUR TOTALS WILL BE POSTED AS FINALIZED.

The Venue

Downtown Denver, at the foot of the Rockies.

The Summit convenes at the Sheraton Denver Downtown on the 16th Street Mall — in the heart of the city, minutes from Union Station, and an easy flight from anywhere your docket lives.
